Everyone Gets a Robot in 2024
Update Your Robot

Dear Readers,
You’re probably thinking, “I don’t have a robot.” I would ask, “Do you have a computer?” Because that’s a robot with a really capable brain. Iimagine a person with genius level intelligence; seemingly able to solve complex mathematical problems, unlimited access to all the information in the world, and more recently control over every appliance, device, and machine in your home. This little genius helps you drive your car, watches your house inside and out, holds onto your valuable memories, tells you the time, and also helps you manage your money. This person would be so important to us that we could easily become reliant on him.
So here’s the twist. This genius is actually as gullible as a two year old baby. Think about that. When a baby is in the house your electrical sockets are covered. Your kitchen cabinets are locked. There’s a baby monitor in the room because you don’t even trust a baby to sleep safely on its own. You never ever let a two year old baby out of your sight. But the little robot running your life, he has free roam. Unmonitored, unsupervised, unregulated. That’s the situation.
How do you protect your robot from harm and threats? Software. Software tells your computer what to do and how to do it. Not to give away your password (sticking a fork in the electrical socket), not to unlock your accounts for anybody other than yourself (stranger danger), and so much more. Just like there are always threats to your toddler there are always new threats to our computer. Viruses, malware, hackers and other malicious threats looking to trick our little genius into doing things that aren’t in our best interest. Our software tells our computer not to listen to these tricksters.
These tricksters and hackers are working non-stop. Every day they study the software looking for new ways to outsmart and trick our computers into working against us. Usually to steal our information, or control our devices. When they do, and when we find out, new software is created with “patches.” A patch is an update to keep your computer safe from these new threats. The patch tells your software, “Hey, there is a new trick being used, do this so you don’t get tricked too.”
How do you get the patches? YOU UPDATE YOUR DEVICE. Every time a new threat is discovered an update is issued with the patch. These updates aren’t just to change the buttons from round to square or to change the background colors on your home screen. Updates are for security. Updates keep your devices safe. And your devices keep you safe. UPDATES KEEP YOU SAFE.
