No news is good news,
We’ve been back a week and surprisingly there was no major breach. This is always a good thing. Roku had a little issue.
Last month they acknowledged 15k accounts being hacked, this month its 576K. No credentials lost in this attack. Perpetrators were only able to make in account purchases.
This is the second breach at Roku this year. Read Me
We already talked about the first one. Read Me
The FBI is warning all about a new phishing scam going on. Perpetrators are sending text messages posing as state toll road customer service attempting to collect unpaid tolls.
DO NOT CLICK THE LINK. If you feel like you have an actual unpaid toll, visit the state website directly or call and speak directly to them.
Lately there have been more complaints than usual about Facebook accounts being hacked. Now is a good time to make sure yours is secure.
While you are checking on your Facebook settings now would be a good time to review your privacy settings.
What does it all mean?
It means the same thing it meant last week. Turn on MFA (multi-factor authentication) for your accounts. Start using a password manager to create unique passwords for each account you have. And most importantly don’t click on links unless you know the sender and can verify its legitimacy. Simple steps help avoid complex problems.
See you next Tuesday.
