Are you using an iPhone yet?
Apple is the king of mobile phones. Not because they sell the most (although they do). And not because they look the best (although they do). Apple is king because Apple is the most secure.
Let’s be clear, any device can be compromised by elite perpetrators. If a well funded conglomerate of bad apples (no pun intended) decides they want to attack an iPhone they will.
But for you and I the iPhone is the most secure device when it comes to protecting personal information and digital security.
Apple designs their devices with security in mind from start to finish. Read Me
Apple manufactures the chips that power their iPhone. Then they create and control the software that the iPhone uses (IOS). If that weren’t enough Apple then screens, approves, and controls all applications available for the iPhone.
Operating systems, think android or IOS, come in two types. Open or closed. Open means the recipe is available to the public. They can see the inner workings of the operating system and make changes if they see fit. This is android.
Closed on the other hand is the opposite. Only the creator knows the recipe and know one else. Think of that precious Coca-Cola recipe locked in the vault all these years. This is Apple’s IOS.
All software applications have features to insure security and privacy. The same is true of all operating systems and all hardware. However, instead of each one working individually an Apple device creates a synergy between all three.
Apple has optimized the design of every aspect of their product. Apple software applications have security features that are enhanced by the operating system that has security features that are enhanced by the hardware and chips.
The ability to oversee and manage the design and production of the security protocols built in to the hardware and software as well as the device itself is a major factor in creating a secure and private environment for the user.
What else?
Honestly the technical details of Apple security and iPhone security features are overwhelming. Apple has countless whitepapers describing the interworking of the devices and how to optimize these features. Rather than spend your time reading them we can help if you’re interested.

What does it all mean?
Apple’s primary concern is the protection of the privacy and security of users. From the creation of the chips that power the device all the way to the applications that users download. Security and privacy are not an afterthought but a guiding principle. If you don’t have one, get one. If you have one and it’s not optimized for security click “Help Me” above and we’ll put you on the right track.
See you next Tuesday.
